THEY had the distinct pleasure of working on the website for the Academy Award Nominated® film Restrepo in 2009. Directed by Sebastian Junger and Tim Hetherington, this gripping film documented the lives of a troop stationed in the Korengal Valley, one of the deadliest places during the Afghani War.

Korengal picks up where Restrepo left off. This new documentary is being released in partnership with Goldcrest Films via a direct-to-consumer platform. As such, a new site was needed to support the phases of the release and offer the technology to sell the video directly to the consumer.


The website was designed using responsive design techniques, featuring heavy parallax effects to create a cinematic experience and capture the feeling of war, and was built on a heavily customized version of Wordpress, allowing the client flexibility to deploy new sections as the site went through its stages of release. 

Once the art direction was established for the site, THEY worked with Goldcrest to roll the branding across all social channels, including Facebook, Twitter & Kickstarter.


The website launched with a heavy focus on the Kickstarter campaign which funded the theatrical release of the film, raising more than $100,000 in just 30 days. Since then, additional sections have been deployed, with content being controlled by the client using custom post-types. The last stage of the project involves launching the direct-to-consumer and video on demand integration via VHX technology.
