THE CASE

Katie Couric is an award-winning journalist, TV personality, well-known cancer advocate, documentary film producer, and The New York Times best-selling author of The Best Advice I Ever Got: Lessons From Extraordinary Lives. Couric joined Yahoo as Global Anchor in November of 2013, where she works to develop Yahoo News’ coverage, report on live events, and anchor groundbreaking interviews with major newsmakers.

As her long-running ABC talk show was wrapping up in the summer of 2014, Katie required a new and fresh website that would become the hub of her personal brand and further support her transition from television to online. Katie and her team turned to THEY to help curate the look of the new brand and build a highly flexible website as the cornerstone of her next chapter.

THE APPROACH

After extensive brand positioning exercises with Katie and her team, THEY began crafting the new brand look for Katie's new digital presence. This was followed by a detailed audit of the desired content verticals and mapping out an intuitive Information Architecture to efficiently present the diverse content. The responsive site was built on a highly customized version of WordPress with custom API technology to provide Katie and her team with total control of the content and outbound email communication.

THE OUTCOME

Designed to become the digital hub for Katie’s new brand, the site provides users with access to all of her content in one central location. The site was built using the latest web technology to ensure a seamless user experience on all devices and features heavy social media aggregation technologies and custom API integration. Additional services provided by THEY Integrated Inc. include the development of a custom daily and weekly news email program and brand alignment for all social media services.
